Speech #8 – Get comfortable with visual aids
Title goes here (10-23-2017)
Crunchy leaves pave the way
with a blend of red, yellow and green tonalities
under the trees of this cold and rainy day
Fellow toastmasters and guests,
My most vivid moments in life didn’t start until I realized how graduate school would impact my life forever. I fell in love with a city. A city, filled with treasures to be discovered in the corners of parks and rivers. The colors of nature can also be mimicked in the lab. Nothing will stop rust because this is a complex matrix representation.
Akron is in my heart. I remember the days that I looked to a skyline hiding under the clouds. I remember the days driving on the all American bridge connecting me every day from home to downtown. I remember the days running trails filled with nature and magic during Fall and Winter seasons.
I learned a lot during my years at The University of Akron. During my Ph.D. studies, not only I walked the paths between buildings, I walked a path that defined my career and extended my scientific curiosity towards the end of the world problems or institute a solid foundation for others to lead the way to new discoveries.
My mind was opened to new perspectives and the view of incredible places. Great memories are instilled deeply in my heart as I recall the following trips.
At the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I traveled through time to learn about the tools that created music and the artists that made an impact of a generation. Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Jimmy Hendrix, and Pink Floyd as Roger Waters made an impact with The Wall.
Professional enrichment opportunities have brought me to places that I have never dreamed of. I have seen the mountains in New Hampshire, historical districts in Boston, skyscrapers in the Windy City, a sunrise on December 24th at the top of the Grand Canyon, Lake Mead in the middle of the desert in Nevada, and a compact version of New York in Las Vegas.
My name is Alvaro Rodriguez. I culminated an era, an accomplishment, a milestone. The title for this presentation is reserved to all those paving my path, helping me build my character, making me aware of my faults, teaching me lessons, speaking with a sincere voice, guiding me by experience, and warming my heart from actions so I can follow the path of success.
At the end, success is more than a data point.
